Red Door Energy Advisors performed a three-unit airtightness test on our EXO™ Building System using a Natural Resources Canada-recommended test procedure. Airtightness and efficient mechanical ventilation has proven to be one of the most cost-effective methods of providing comfort, ensuring envelope durability, and maximizing building energy efficiency.
The test results indicate the EXO™ building has air leakage of 3.08 air changes per hour at 50 Pa (ACH@50). This is significantly more airtight than typical new buildings in British Columbia. Typical new residential buildings run about 5.5 ACH@50. Typical new commercial buildings run significantly higher.
“This is an impressive result. New buildings of this size average 5.5 ACH@50 in BC.” says Monte Paulsen, Certified Energy Advisor at Red Door Energy Advisors.
